几乎每个人都是通过 FreeBSD Ports Collection 在 FreeBSD 上面装应用程序 ("`ports`")的。 就像FreeBSD的其它部分一样， 它主要来自于志愿者的努力。 所以在阅读这份文档的时候请务必记住这些。

在 FreeBSD 的世界里， 任何人都能提交新的 port， 或志愿地维护一个已有的 port， 如果那个 port 没人维护的话 - 不需要任何特殊的权限来做这件事情。
